How to use the timesheet calculator
Enter decimal hours for each day in a weekly or biweekly period. The calculator totals each week, splits regular and overtime hours using the threshold you enter, and estimates gross pay from the hourly rate and multiplier.
Weekly example
If you enter 8.5 hours Monday through Friday, the weekly total is 42.50 hours. With a 40-hour threshold, the calculator shows 40.00 regular hours and 2.50 overtime hours.
Decimal hours on a timesheet
Timesheets usually use decimals instead of clock-style minutes. Write 8 hours 15 minutes as 8.25, 8 hours 30 minutes as 8.50, and 8 hours 45 minutes as 8.75.
Important: This calculator uses the threshold and multiplier you enter for arithmetic only. It does not determine legal overtime eligibility.
Timesheet FAQ
Should I enter 8.30 for 8 hours 30 minutes?
No. Enter 8.50. Thirty minutes is half of an hour, so it is written as .50 in decimal hours.
How does biweekly mode handle overtime?
Biweekly mode keeps Week 1 and Week 2 separate for overtime threshold calculations, then adds the results together.
What is the difference between this and the Time Card Calculator?
The Timesheet Calculator starts from daily decimal hour totals. The Time Card Calculator starts from clock-in and clock-out times.
